Trading Figure Game
The minatures of the Trading Figure Game were one of the first figures I got. It is the main reason why I went into collecting Pokémon merchandise. I really loved these when they were first released. These figures were produced by Kaiyodo and was released in the fall of 2006. Just like the TFG most of these figures came in booster packs, so basicly you didn't know what figures you got, they came in packs of 1, 2 or 3, each containing a figure that was visible. Of course there were some starter sets with visible figures. So only Next Quest was released, Groundbreakers was announced but later cancelled as well as an unamed third set which was never released. In the USA the first series also contained some Black Star Promo figures.
One date I will remember is June the 2nd, 2009. On that date TFG was officially cancelled.
The game goes as follows. The goal is to reach the other side of the playmath were your opponent starts and reach his goal. You do that by moving. When 2 Pokémon are next to eachother you engage in a fight. The Pokémons fight by spinning them on a plastic base. Depending on which move you got, the Pokémon may be defeated. That Pokémon is brought back to the Pokémin Center. They are returned to the bench wen another Pokémon is sent to the Pokémon Center.
Starter sets came went plenty of stuff. There was of course an information booklet, a quickstart guide, a map, some markers for paralyzed and poisoned, some bases and cards.
